MARANO SUL PANARO

Marano sul Panaro is a flourishing agricultural and industrial centre with
c 3,400 inhabitants on the left bank of the river Panaro.
The chief town is gateway from the plain to the mountains.
The area has a lot to offer the visitor being rich in both historical and natural
treasures. The municipality of Marano is largely agricultural with fruit orchards
(cherries, apples, plums and apricots) on the lowlands, and pastures on the
upper lands given over to large cattle breeding farms.
Not only cured meats and Parmigiano Reggiano can be found in Marano, but
also cherries, balsamic vinegar, crescentine (stove top bread) and a few examples
of the old wines of the area such as Festasio, an autochthonal wine originally
from Festà.
